We're using a generic Tile Level Editor called "Tiled"- It's a nice program overall, but the way it handles objects isn't very good for a project like this. That's why we're making this.
It'll streamline the process, thus making development easier ...It's also been the reason as to why it's taking so long to make the game. Go figure.

Are you using cutsom tools for this project? Mind if we have a link for this?
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm using GameMaker 7 but create tiles via GraphicsGale. I'm open to alternatives like these. I hope the learning curve is as easy to learn as GraphicsGale.
Hey SIG, I think this is a level editor, not a tile creation program. GraphicsGale is an image editor and this is something that makes maps with these objects, no?
ReplyDeleteExactly, but I think what Marty here is saying is that they've created an elegant tile creation program AND level editorall in one.
ReplyDeleteD: yo, you ever on AIM anymore?
ReplyDeleteoh Tiled... It works great and it's free, but it's giving me headaches nonetheless. If only there was a way to just connect actions and trigger and objects within Tiled, like a node based thingy. One can dream right?
ReplyDeleteThat inventory with the different objects is really cool, great tools help make great games(faster too), so keep it up.
